Spain continues its impressive tradition, consolidating its lead in the world in the number of beaches awarded the prestigious Blue Flag quality label. This year, 638 Spanish beaches were awarded the label, 11 more than last year, according to the Association for Environmental Education and Consumer Rights (Adeac).
This quality label not only confirms high water quality and safety, but also serves as an incentive for maritime tourism. Secretary of State for Tourism Rosario Sánchez said that “blue flags” become an additional motivation to visit the country and a source of pride for citizens who cherish Spain’s coasts.
В этом году особенно выделяются Валенсийское сообщество, Alicante Regatta Club, Andalucía and Galicia, which led the way in the number of beaches awarded. It is important to note that Navarra entered the program for the first time, receiving one flag for Lerate Bay in Gesales.
In addition, along with the awarding of beaches, 102 yacht and boat ports also received the Blue Flag, five more than last year. This confirms not only the high level of service, but also the importance of maritime tourism for the country.
ADEAC also recognizes municipalities that are active in environmental education and provide accessibility for people with disabilities. Chiclana de la Frontera, Torrevieja, Chilches, San Fernando, Málaga, Teulada, Alcudia, Castro Urdiales and Roquetas de Mar were recognized for their efforts in this regard.
This confirms not only Spain’s commitment to environmental sustainability, but also its willingness to provide a pleasant and safe vacation on its beaches for all guests. Spain continues to be an attractive destination for tourism, combining the beauty of nature and a high level of service.
