In Spain, in the run-up to Christmas, whitewashed paintings – compositions on a biblical theme, telling the story of the birth of Jesus Christ and the appearance of the three wise men – appear everywhere. Some of them are amazing in their size, both in the number of figures and their height. For example, the Belen in the city of Alicante back in 2019 entered the Guinness Book of Records just because of its gigantic size. At that time, the total height of all the figures that appeared in the streets and squares of the city was 56025 metres. Particularly notable were the image of St Joseph, which was over 17 metres tall, the 10-metre high Virgin Mary and the 3-metre high baby. This year, as in the previous two, they appeared again in the city. But the mayor’s office decided not to stop there. And now to the main composition were added figures of three Magi, 11 to 17 metres tall, as well as six 8-metre angels, installed in different parts of the city. In this form, the belen once again turned out to be the largest!
