Why do I need an interpreter when buying a property in Spain?

Obviously, the role of the interpreter in the process of a property transaction in Spain is extremely important. In theory, he is obliged to guide the buyer through the entire process of transferring the rights to the property at the notary, ensuring that the future homeowner clearly understands what he is paying for and what obligations he is assuming. When signing a contract, it is not only necessary to provide all the documents, but also to have a clear understanding of each clause of the contract, especially in property transactions. One should not rely on the fact that only a notary is responsible for this.

Ideally, the buyer should familiarise himself with the preliminary contract a few days before the parties meet at the notary’s office. This will allow him to get full information and answers to questions if he has them, doing so without rushing or time constraints.
