The average cost of a liter of gasoline is 1.671 euros, while diesel has fallen in price to 1.512 euros.
Fuel prices continued to fall this week after rising in the first four months of 2024, falling 1.24%. The average price of a liter of gasoline fell for the second week in a row, dropping 0.83% to 1.671 euros, the lowest level since April, according to data from the EU Oil Bulletin published by Europa Press. The average price of a liter of diesel fell for the fourth week in a row, dropping 1.24% to 1.512 euros, the same level as in January.
Despite these reductions, since the beginning of the year the price of a liter of gasoline has increased by 8.9% and diesel by 1.2%. Filling up an average tank of gasoline (55 liters) costs about 91.9 euros, which is 3.96 euros more than on the same dates last year, when the price was about 87.94 euros. For diesel cars, filling the average tank now costs 83.16 euros, 4.29 euros more expensive than a year ago (78.87 euros).
The price of fuel depends on many factors, including quotations, taxes, raw material costs and logistics. In Spain, gasoline and diesel prices are lower than EU and eurozone averages due to differences in taxation and other regulatory factors.
Experts note that further fluctuations in fuel prices will depend on global oil prices, the economic situation and political decisions. A possible stabilization of prices is predicted in the coming weeks, but much will depend on external factors such as energy demand and geopolitical situation.
Thus, despite the current price reductions, motorists should be prepared for possible changes in the cost of refueling in the future.
