In Spain has passed a new law aimed at combating home foreclosures. The proposed by the PP party and endorsed by Senatom, it introduces a number of measures to protect citizens’ property.
One of the important provisions of the law is the setting of a deadline – occupiers will have only 24 hours after notification of occupation to leave the dwelling. Otherwise, forced eviction will be applied.
In addition, the law provides for stiffer penalties for occupation, including increased prison sentences. Urgent trials are also introduced to quickly resolve cases of occupation.
Senators note that the purpose of the bill is to ensure the safety and protection of citizens’ property. It will be submitted to the Congress of Deputies for consideration, where final approval is expected.
